Well with big game seasons coming to an end the "season over" blues are setting in, however we still have many other alternate seasons to keep us in the field.
One of my favorite hunting group activities is rabbit hunting. Rabbit hunting is great for the younger hunter who has trouble sitting in a stand for hours. Its also a great activity for a group of 3-6 hunters.
Most states have public hunting properties that are accessible to us all, however I have found that nothing can beat private ground and old farmer dump sites.
Wire fencing, piles of old wood and junk are a rabbit heaven.. Thickets containing briars and thick grass patches are also great hiding spots for rabbits.
A beagle or two is awesome but nothing brings back the old memories then "kicking the brush" no matter what rabbit hunting can help stave off the "after season blues" , put more food in the freezer and smiles on faces.
remember to follow a few safety rules like stay in a line, wear plenty of orange, safeties on and muzzles pointed away from other.
